Part of the Oceania Marine Group, the centre brings world-class service to every project. Beyond its core marine services, it creates a welcoming environment by providing free ultra-fast WiFi, a friendly crew yacht club, and a relaxed recreation area equipped with a self-service kitchen and laundry facilities.
At the heart of its operations are dual travel lifts designed for efficiency. A 100T travel lift serves smaller boats with beams up to 10 metres, while a 560T travel lift handles larger vessels with beams up to 13.5 metres. With extensive sealed hardstands, refit sheds, and a fully staffed team skilled in boatbuilding, painting, and various marine trades, the centre is ready to tackle any task. Specialist service agents and suppliers are also on hand to ensure top-notch support.
Parlay Revival, TV-star Colin McRae’s Lagoon 450 catamaran was hauled out and worked on at the Port Whangarei Marine Centre
Over this last year, the centre has welcomed a range of impressive vessels. Notable guests include Parlay Revival—a Lagoon 450 catamaran owned and sailed by New Zealand’s Colin McRae (from the TV series Below Deck)—SV Aristo, a 2003 Fountaine Pajot Lavezz preparing for Pacific adventures, the classic motor yacht Lady Argyle, the charming 50ft wooden motorboat Rawinia, and the iconic NZL68 explore, which played a key role in New Zealand’s America’s Cup history.

Port Whangarei Marine Centre also hauled out a wide range of superyachts. Over the past year, they completed a major refit on Slim, a Gunboat 66, and had three Southern Wind yachts in the yard. Ocean Dream Walker last year moved from Auckland to wrap up its yard period with the Marine Centre. Looking ahead, they have several big projects lined up for the coming year.
With Whangarei’s new superyacht marina taking shape, the industry at the Marine Centre is booming.
Serving as the South Pacific Service Centre for Outremer Catamarans, Port Whangarei Marine Centre also features an MPI-approved Transitional Decontamination Facility for hull cleaning, ensuring new arrivals meet strict biosecurity requirements. The centre proudly sponsors the PIC Coastal Classic, reinforcing its strong ties to the maritime community.
With an increasing number of international vessels choosing its services, the centre has expanded to offer new long-term hardstand options for vessels wintering over, competitive haulout rates, and major refit projects—from composite repairs to full-scale paint jobs.
For those looking to experience its facilities firsthand, Port Whangarei Marine Centre will be at the Auckland Boat Show at Stand 212 on VEC Level 2.
