Boating enthusiasts, industry leaders, crew members and water lovers around the world are coming together for the launch of #WaveForBoating, a global social media campaign in support of World Boating Day and the boating industry. This initiative encourages everyone in the leisure boating industry to unite by sharing a simple but powerful gesture – a wave  – to celebrate the boating lifestyle and share their passion for the open water.

World Boating Day, taking place on May 24th, is a global celebration spearheaded by The Superyacht Life Foundation, offering unprecedented access into the world of leisure boating and showcasing its many joys and benefits. After a successful first year, the event is growing, with even more marinas, shipyards, manufacturers, charter operators, and boating organisations joining in to spread awareness and encourage participation. #WaveForBoating provides a fun and easy way to engage communities, welcome newcomers, and promote our industry.

“Just like waves on the water, this movement has the power to spread far and wide. By encouraging people to participate in #WaveForBoating, we’re creating a ripple effect of awareness, engagement, and enthusiasm that welcomes more people into the boating lifestyle.” said Dilan Saraç, Executive Director at The Superyacht Life Foundation. “As World Boating Day continues to grow, #WaveForBoating is a simple yet powerful way to build a connection between boating enthusiasts everywhere.

How to Get Involved:

  • Take a photo or video of yourself (or your entire team!) waving, whether you’re on the shore, on a boat, or even sitting at your office desk dreaming of the sea breeze.
  • Post the photo or video on your Instagram account (or send directly to info@worldboatingday.com if you’re feeling shy!)
  • Tag your post with #WaveForBoating and @worldboatingday to spread the message and share the joy.
  • Encourage friends, family, and fellow boaters to join in – the more waves, the better! Bonus points for Mexican waves!

From local boat shops to huge shipyards, everyone in the boating industry has a role to play in making World Boating Day 2025 the biggest yet. By championing #WaveForBoating, businesses and individuals alike can celebrate boating culture, grow participation, and showcase the positive impact of leisure boating worldwide.
