Lowrance has unveiled its newest trolling motor, the Ghost X, a 47-inch freshwater model promising anglers sharper positioning, more power, and an even quieter ride than its predecessor.
The Ghost X has been shaped by user feedback, says Navico Group’s Jeremiah Clark, with refinements aimed squarely at the way modern anglers fish. The most visible change is an enhanced directional LED indicator, making it easier to see both sonar and motor alignment from anywhere on board. Raised chevrons add a functional design touch, improving visibility in bright conditions.
Under the hood, power has been lifted by 20 percent compared to the original Ghost. That extra thrust is designed to help anglers push through weed beds, hold station in fast-flowing rivers, and handle gusty cross-winds without losing control. Despite the added grunt, Lowrance says the Ghost X is its quietest motor yet — a key advantage when stalking wary fish in shallow or clear water.
Control options have also expanded. Alongside the familiar foot pedal and Lowrance multifunction display integration via NMEA 2000, Ghost X will offer an optional GPS remote later in 2025. The compact remote allows speed and position adjustments from anywhere on the boat and features a Cruise Control button to maintain speed over ground. A new LED light ring on the motor housing keeps anglers informed on mode status, pairing, and battery life at a glance.
Sonar integration remains a strong suit. The Ghost X comes standard with an Active Imaging™ 3-in-1 nosecone, offering detailed down, side, and 3D views, and it’s compatible with ActiveTarget™ 2 live sonar. Importantly, the motor emits zero electromagnetic interference, so sonar clarity is preserved.
Like the original Ghost, the X model features fly-by-wire steering for cable-like responsiveness without the maintenance, a 360-degree breakaway mount to absorb impacts, and a dual-action gas spring for easier stow and deploy. It can run on 24- or 36-volt systems without changing chargers or batteries.
