Welcome to your October 2025 edition of Boating New Zealand magazine.

In this issue, it is my great pleasure to share some good news. In the latest independent readership survey, Boating New Zealand’s print publication—this magazine—saw a 25% surge in readership in the last six months, which means nearly 100,000 people read the magazine each month. That’s the best readership figure for Boating New Zealand since 2016, and while it’s just a snapshot and not the whole year, and it’s also true magazines are seeing a general resurgence worldwide after years of decline, it’s still fantastic news.

And it doesn’t stop there. The print-digital strategy we have been developing is clearly yielding strong results. A year ago, we completely overhauled our online and digital offerings, with a new website and a much stronger presence on social media.

Since then, the volume of content on the website has exploded, with multiple posts daily, up-to-the-minute reporting, and even live streams. Much of what’s published on the website, including bespoke features, is exclusive and complementary to what appears in the printed publication. When you also add in magazine content, which in due course is also published online, our website represents an amazing resource with always something new to discover.

The results speak for themselves. In the last 12 months our online audience has surged past 75,000 unique visitors every month, while the Tradeaboat platform, which joined the Boating New Zealand family earlier this year, has more than doubled its traffic year-on-year. In addition, in the same period engagement on our social media platforms has greatly improved, with a doubling in Facebook followers and a 250% increase in reach, a massive growth in interactions on Instagram, and a strong lift in engagement from professionals on LinkedIn.

Boating New Zealand now provides multiple options to access boating content: online and via social media, or for those who prefer a high-quality print product without the digital noise, the monthly magazine.

The New Zealand media landscape is challenging, so such positive results are extremely encouraging. All of us involved in bringing you Boating New Zealand content, digital and print, are immensely grateful to our loyal readers for their ongoing support, and we warmly welcome our new ones. Thank you for being part of the Boating New Zealand community.

Enjoy the latest edition.
