New Zealand’s SailGP campaign has received a timely boost with confirmation that Peter Burling is cleared to return to the Black Foils for the Abu Dhabi Grand Final. After being sidelined for medical assessment earlier in the week, Burling has now been approved to rejoin the team on the water.

SailGP’s latest update confirms he will take a full part in today’s practice racing, giving the Black Foils a valuable run before the weekend’s high-stakes finale. The clearance ends a short period of uncertainty for the Kiwi squad, who rely heavily on Burling’s precision and temperament as driver.

His return restores the team to full strength at a crucial moment, with podium positions and overall season standings on the line. With Burling back at the helm, the Black Foils can settle into their usual rhythm as they prepare to fight for the season’s major honours in Abu Dhabi.
