Riviera has closed out the year in style on the Gold Coast, unveiling the long-awaited 5600 Sport Yacht Platinum Edition at a private world premiere for owners and guests. The crowd was a global one, with visitors travelling from Canada, the Americas, New Zealand and across Australia to see Hull No.1 touch the water for the first time.
The reveal mixed theatre with engineering. A live saxophonist played from the bow as the yacht emerged under spotlights, turned neatly on her axis and glided to the Riviera Yacht Club. Fireworks lit the basin, but the attention returned quickly to the new model and what she represents for the brand.
Riviera owner Rodney Longhurst used the occasion to acknowledge the efforts of the company’s 900 staff. He said the 5600 raises the bar for a luxury motor yacht under 60 feet, particularly in space, comfort, liveability, engineering, blue-water ability and fuel efficiency. “The brief was to create the best mid-50-foot sports yacht,” he said. “The result speaks for itself.”
Platinum Edition focus
As a Platinum Edition model, the 5600 carries a higher level of finish and a more refined look throughout. The design continues to follow the four fundamentals that define the Sport Yacht line: timeless styling, single-level living, capable performance offshore and straightforward operation. Step aboard and those priorities are clear.
The teak-laid hydraulic swim platform sets the tone for the boat’s thinking. It lowers to form a private beach and reveals a clever touch – folding steps that deploy automatically. Tender handling has also moved forward. A redesigned garage floor, electric winch and removable rails allow a 3.3-metre RIB with the outboard attached to be launched or retrieved with ease. Space remains for paddleboards, two SeaBobs, dive bottles and a range of water gear.
Aft deck and saloon
Buyers can opt for a short or long hardtop. Both frame the aft deck, which carries a full-width lounge, an L-shaped dining area that seats up to eight, and a well-appointed entertainer’s galley with twin grill units, extractor fan, drawer fridge, icemaker and wet bar. An electric blind drops from the hardtop for shade or privacy, while an overhead sunroof pulls in light and air.
The saloon continues the single-level flow. A stainless-framed glass door and awning window connect the aft deck and interior. The U-shaped galley holds induction cooking, a combination oven, dishwasher, a full-height fridge and fridge/freezer drawers that can be set either way. A drinks station with wine cooler sits opposite.
Two lounges give the saloon a natural rhythm, with swivel stools at the galley’s breakfast bar ensuring no one cooks alone. Large windows and a broad sunroof draw in the outdoors. Lower the blinds and a rising TV turns the space into a night-time retreat.
Forward deck and helm
The forward deck creates another social area built for long afternoons on anchor. A C-shaped lounge, teak-trimmed pedestal table, twin adjustable sunbeds and deep lockers for fenders and drinks storage complete the picture. Waterproof speakers handle the soundtrack.
At the helm, visibility and simplicity lead the design. Touchscreen navigation dominates the console behind a curved glass windscreen. The captain’s chair is fixed; the companion seat swivels to face the saloon at anchor. Twin joystick controls, one at the helm and one on the aft deck, make low-speed manoeuvring straightforward. Buyers can add starboard or dual aft-deck controls.
Below decks
The accommodation deck holds three staterooms and two bathrooms, shaped by Riviera’s usual mix of handcrafted timber and smart detailing. The full-beam master suite comes with a queen island bed, cedar-lined lockers, storage throughout, Smart TV, reverse-cycle air-conditioning and a private ensuite with a teak-seated shower.
The forward VIP cabin mirrors the master’s sense of comfort and has its own ensuite access. The port guest cabin converts from twins to a double at the touch of a button and includes generous storage. A dedicated laundry sits in the companionway with separate washer and dryer, bench space and natural ventilation through a hull window.
Engineering and options
The 5600 draws power from twin Volvo Penta D11 IPS 950s (725hp / 533kW), giving the model a strong power-to-weight balance. The engine room is full height, accessed through a stern door or a lockable hatch on deck. Options include Sentinel telematics, solar charging, Volvo Assisted Docking, Humphree fins, Seakeeper stabilisation and Starlink.
Riviera backs the new model with five-year warranties on engines, drives and electronics, along with a seven-year structural and two-year express limited warranty.
The 5600 Sport Yacht Platinum Edition will be shown publicly at the Miami International Boat Show in February 2026, followed by its Australasian debut at Sanctuary Cove in May. For Riviera owners, it marks another confident step in the company’s push to refine and expand its Sport Yacht line.
