Maritimo S50 Sedan Motor Yacht making its global launch at Sanctuary Cove

The new Maritimo S50 Sedan Motor Yacht will make its global debut at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show this week, introducing what Maritimo describes as a “ground-up reimagining” of its sports yacht DNA.

Positioned as the latest addition to Maritimo’s next-generation model line-up, the S50 combines a sharper, more contemporary design language with the offshore capability and long-range cruising focus the Australian builder has become known for.

Compared with earlier S models, the S50 pushes much harder into sports yacht territory.

The change is obvious from the dock.

The S50 sits lower and looks leaner than previous Maritimo sedans. The roofline carries more shape through it, the black detailing breaks up the profile, and the reshaped coachhouse gives the boat a noticeably more aggressive stance.

The redesigned cockpit “boot” follows the lines of the cabin top above it, visually linking the yacht from stern to windscreen while also integrating seating, barbecue facilities, a sink, cooler and lazarette access.

Maritimo founder Bill Barry-Cotter AM described the S50 as “our most S boat ever.”

“The refinement and evolution of our design ethos really do make the new S50 ‘our most S boat ever,’” Barry-Cotter said.

“The sculpture of the cabin top, which is then reflected in the boot over the lazarette, along with the cantilevered co-pilot’s seat adjacent to the skipper’s helm chair, along with the vast, and tall glass throughout the main deck to deliver incredible light all say one thing — Maritimo!”

The roofline incorporates a large fixed overhang for weather protection, while contrasting black highlights further emphasise the yacht’s sports-oriented styling.

Underneath, though, the fundamentals remain recognisably Maritimo. The S50 retains shaft-drive propulsion, race-derived steering and a layout built around extended cruising rather than short overnight trips.

Maritimo S50 layout opens up the main deck

The biggest shift aboard the S50 is how open the boat feels compared with earlier Maritimo sedans.

The aft galley arrangement — first introduced by Maritimo more than 20 years ago — has been repositioned on the port side to strengthen the connection between the saloon and cockpit entertaining areas.

Oversized side windows and a glass skylight running through the roof brighten the saloon considerably, while opening sections improve ventilation throughout the main deck.

“At its core, the S50 Sedan has been conceived to deliver a seamless connection between interior and exterior living spaces, which is an increasingly important consideration for modern motor yacht owners,” said Maritimo Operations Manager Phil Candler.

“The expansive main saloon exemplifies this philosophy, offering a level of openness, natural light, and airflow that sets a new benchmark in the 50-foot sedan motor yacht category.”

Maritimo has also stretched the usable cockpit space by about 300mm. Beneath the rear seating, a powered hatch lifts to reveal the lazarette, giving owners access to storage, steering gear and onboard systems.

A tilting and lowering swim platform has also been built into the transom to improve water access while keeping the stern profile clean underway.

Below deck, the S50 shares the same two-stateroom accommodation arrangement introduced aboard the M50 Flybridge, including walkaround beds, expansive bathrooms and a configurable VIP cabin capable of twin or double layouts.

A convertible saloon settee increases total sleeping capacity to six.

Rather than leaning heavily into short-stay luxury styling, the S50 continues Maritimo’s focus on long-range owner operation. Domestic appliances, generous storage and full laundry facilities point to owners spending extended periods aboard rather than simply using the boat for weekends away.

Maritimo Manufacturing Manager Paul Wrench said the company worked to introduce a more dramatic design language without compromising the qualities existing owners expect.

“Maritimo continues to focus on delivering vessels that inspire confidence and encourage owners to venture further,” Wrench said.

“The new S50 has a real flair about it, without altering the traditional Maritimo robustness.”

“It is not just in all the curves and angles of the roof, nor the significantly different C-pillar at the rear of the coachhouse. Even the air ducting for the engine room is sleeker.”

Maritimo S50 retains shaft-drive offshore capability

Power aboard the S50 is provided by twin Volvo Penta shaft-drive installations, with launch specifications quoting up to twin D13 engines rated at 800hp each.

The setup continues Maritimo’s long-standing preference for shaft drives and offshore cruising capability over pod-drive systems more commonly found in luxury sports yachts.

Maritimo expects the S50 to attract existing owners looking to move into a more compact platform, along with buyers entering the brand for the first time.

“Our world-class ride, comfort, reliability, genuine long-range capability, onboard liveability for extended voyages, and exceptional seakeeping place the S50 firmly on everyone’s list, regardless of where they are in their boating journey,” said Maritimo Marketing Manager Simon Stewart.

“We are immensely proud of the S50 and have taken great satisfaction in seeing the confidence of owners and enthusiasts alike as they experience the style and ergonomics we have worked so hard to build into this remarkable vessel.”

The global launch of the Maritimo S50 Sedan Motor Yacht takes place at Sanctuary Cove from 21–24 May 2026.
