American trawler yacht builder Kadey-Krogen has announced the Krogen 53, a new full-displacement passagemaker developed as the company marks 50 years in business.
Founded in Florida in 1976, Kadey-Krogen builds owner-operated cruising yachts. The company has produced nearly 700 hulls across its history, with the current Krogen brand range spanning from 44 to 70 feet. The 53 replaces and updates the Krogen 52.

The new model is built on Kadey-Krogen’s Pure Full Displacement hull, which the brand has used for its trawler range since inception. Full-displacement hulls operate at hull speed rather than planing—typically around eight to nine knots on a vessel of this size—prioritising fuel economy, range, and seakeeping over outright speed. The hull features a fine bow entry, balanced waterplane, and the builder’s signature wineglass transom. Interior configuration options are wider than on the outgoing 52.

Buyers can choose between two galley positions: forward in the salon in the traditional layout, or adjacent to the pilothouse steps. Accommodation is available in either a three-stateroom arrangement or a two-stateroom layout with a dedicated office or utility space. The master stateroom is full-beam amidships.

Deck features include a large flybridge with panoramic visibility, a boat deck rated for a 14-foot tender, and port and starboard boarding doors. An internal flybridge staircase is available as an option. The systems package includes large fuel tanks, generous storage for provisions and spares, and an engine room designed for practical offshore maintenance.
