Southern Spars appoints Uli Sommerlatt as Head of R&D

Southern Spars has appointed Uli Sommerlatt as Head of Research and Development, reinforcing its commitment to innovation in high performance composite spars and rigging. A qualified Naval Architect with a marine and watersports background, Sommerlatt brings extensive experience in performance yacht design and advanced composite engineering.

His career includes roles at Judel/Vrolijk and Co, Core Builders Composites/Oracle Racing, SailGP, and most recently North Kiteboarding & North Foils. In his new role, he will lead Southern Spars’ global R&D programme, accelerating new technology development across Southern Spars and the wider North Technology Group.
