Tim Porter (above) joins the NZ Marine Board as an independent member for the 2026-2027 year, and Richard Thorpe of TNL Pindar (below right) will sit on the board as NZ Marine Export Group board chair. They will join existing board members Tracey Stevenson, Jason Dickey, Blair Geldard, Denis Kendall and Tristram Fink,
Tim Porter has been part of New Zealand’s marine industry for more than 30 years through his leadership of Boating New Zealand magazine. During that time, he has developed a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing marine businesses and the need to adapt to changing market trends.
Tim was one of the founders of NZ Marine’s On Water Boat Show (now Auckland Boat Show) and a great supporter of NZ Marine conferences. As an NZ Marine Board member, he is passionate about giving back to the industry and helping ensure it continues to grow and provide a strong future for its members.
Richard Thorpe (below) sits on the NZ Marine board to represent the interests of the organisation’s exporting members. As a senior executive with TNL Pindar, he has spent many years helping New Zealand marine manufacturers and boat builders successfully access global markets.
A long-serving member of the NZ Marine Export Group Board and now its Chair, Richard has been actively involved in representing New Zealand at major global marine events and helping create opportunities for exporters to expand into offshore markets.
