SAIL is the first behind-the-scenes documentary of a modern America’s Cup, offering unprecedented access to teams, sailors, and support crews throughout the Louis Vuitton Cup and the 37th America’s Cup Match against Emirates Team New Zealand.
Using onboard footage, exclusive broadcast angles, and IMAX-certified cameras, the film immerses audiences in the high-speed world of AC75 racing yachts, capable of exceeding 100km/h. It captures the intensity, pressure, and technological innovation behind the sport like never before.
Beyond the racing, SAIL explores the human side of the competition, revealing the ambition, sacrifice, and obsession required to win the world’s oldest international sporting trophy. The documentary examines the emotional toll on competitors and their families, while highlighting fierce rivalries, funding battles, and the relentless pursuit of performance.
Key figures featured include Grant Dalton, Sir Ben Ainslie, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Max Sirena, Terry Hutchinson, and Ernesto Bertarelli, offering rare insight into the personalities, pressures, and psychology of elite competition.
Filmed over two years in Barcelona, SAIL combines spectacular on-water action with intimate behind-the-scenes storytelling, making it compelling viewing for both America’s Cup followers and sports fans alike. The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival on 11 September 2026 and is set for wider festival screenings ahead of general release.
