Tamaki Marine Park has the space and facilities for undercover work regardless of the season.

At Tamaki Marine Park (TMP) in Auckland, 1200m2 of undercover boat yard hardstand space is available – and this does not include the additional 1650m2 of the trade units or the two large boat sheds occupied by onsite boatbuilder Condon Marine Services (CMS) and onsite boat painter Gloss Boats Marine Spraying.

This undercover space really comes into its own during winter when the weather is often inclement. Undercover work areas allow work to continue regardless of the weather, so projects need not suffer weather related delays.

“For example,” says TMP’s Martin Hannon, “if a contractor allows five days for a project, he can be confident of delivering within that time frame without problems and delays resulting from working outside in poor weather.”

Tamaki Marine Park offers canopy space under-cover, as well as three other dedicated storage boat sheds available for hire. These covered spaces are ideal for refits and projects.

BOAT PAINTER UP AND RUNNING

Onsite boat painter Gloss Boats Marine Spraying (GBMS) is now up and running from its new facility at TMP. The new in-house spray booth and extraction system has dramatically improved the way Gloss Boats operates and brought health and safety benefits to its team members.

Gloss Boats is based solely at TMP after the Pier21 Hardstand was recently closed for haul-outs. It has already completed three repaints at the new facility with three more underway.

The large undercover canopy is proving popular with the antifouls, enabling the Gloss Boats team to continue working in the rain, which results in less down time and less disruption. Associated cost savings are passed on to the owner.

Gloss has a designated area for removing old antifoul by way of wet blasting – less labour-intensive than using a linbide hand scraper. This means lower costs for hardstand time and labour, resulting in more cost-effective solution for the vessel owner.

If you are looking for an antifoul and Propspeed prior to Christmas, please contact the Gloss Boats team for a price estimate and booking slot.

Gloss Boats wishes to thank all its past and present customers for their support at Pier21 over the past 20 years and looks forward to working with them again at their new location at Tamaki Marine Park. BNZ
