New Zealand’s Black Foils are targeting a positive finish to SailGP’s first ever back to back race weekends as they prepare for the Oracle San Francisco Sail Grand Prix this weekend.

Last weekend’s second place at the Rolex Los Angeles Sail Grand Prix moved the team into solo third place on the 2025 Season Championship table after four of thirteen events for the season.

The team sits on 29 points behind Australia with 32 and leaders Emirates Great Britain on 34. The tight table reflects the fact that the four events so far this season have produced four different winners.

Black Foils CO-CEO and Driver Peter Burling said the team was excited to get back on the boat after a short turnaround.

“We feel like we learnt a lot from LA. We’ve got a few things we want to keep tidying up. We’ve done a lot of hard work through the season. The new group is coming together and gelling well. Everyone is getting more and more comfortable with their roles and responsibilities within the team and we’ve continued to take steps between the events.”

Burling said there had been an intent to bring new energy to the second event of the double-header.

“We’ve been really focused on everyone coming with fresh energy this weekend and I think everyone is super excited to get racing. Hopefully we can put together our strongest San Francisco performance to date.”
