ExploMar’s SUPER/ISLAND battery platform unlocks 200km range for electric boats

ExploMar has officially launched its groundbreaking **SUPER/ISLAND Battery Platform**, a high-capacity, modular system designed to push electric boats beyond the 200km range barrier. Aimed squarely at medium-to-long-range applications, this platform is a milestone for sustainable water transport — offering a practical, powerful solution for leisure and commercial vessels alike.

Built for flexibility and scale, the platform delivers up to 270 kWh in a single-motor configuration, 540 kWh for dual motors, and an impressive 1,080 kWh in four-motor setups. This makes it suitable not only for smaller recreational boats but also for working vessels and even mid-sized ferries that traditionally rely on high-consumption diesel power.

At the heart of the system are next-generation battery cells with a high energy density of 250 Wh/kg, optimised for light weight, long life, and strong performance. With 1C to 2C discharge rates, fast-charging capability, and compatibility with both 400V and 800V platforms, the battery system integrates seamlessly with most port-side charging infrastructure, significantly reducing downtime.

To ensure reliability in all climates, the SUPER/ISLAND platform uses a dual thermal management system: liquid cooling for hot conditions and an electronic heating system for colder environments. This intelligent temperature control ensures stable, safe operation whether cruising tropical coasts or operating in cold-water regions.

From an installation perspective, the system’s compact double-layer cell stack (710 mm wide, 300 mm high) is designed for efficient stern placement, maintaining vessel balance. It also offers on-demand expansion, with ExploMar’s proprietary Battery Management System (BMS) supporting up to three battery packs per system — giving boatbuilders and operators future-proof energy flexibility.

What’s more, global interest is rapidly growing. Following a strong showing at the China International Boat Show and hands-on sea trials at ExploMar’s Changshu factory, ExploMar claim that dealers from New Zealand, Thailand, Malaysia, Russia, and France have signed Memorandums of Intent (MOIs) to partner on distributing ExploMar’s electric outboard systems. The combination of real-world performance and engineering precision clearly resonated, and the enthusiasm from international markets underlines the platform’s commercial viability.

In summary, the SUPER/ISLAND Battery Platform marks a major advancement in electric marine propulsion. It delivers serious range, robust thermal performance, easy integration, and now — thanks to global dealer interest — a clear path to international adoption.
