New Zealand’s Megan Thomson and the 2.0 Racing crew have advanced to the semi-finals of the 2025 Women’s Match Racing World Championship after defeating France’s Julia D’Amodio in their best-of-three quarter-final series.

In a closely fought contest on Lake Michigan, Thomson struck first with a composed win in the opening race. D’Amodio, skippering the Shark Caviar Team, replied with a sharp performance in Race 2 to level the score. But Thomson, ranked second after the round robin, showed her class in the decider. She kept her boat clean through the pre-start, controlled the first beat, and converted her advantage into a decisive win, sealing the series 2–1.

The result secures Thomson’s place in the semi-finals, where she will look to continue her strong form following nine wins in qualifying and now two more in the knockouts. For D’Amodio, it marks the end of a spirited campaign that included battling her way into the top eight with a 5–6 record in the round robin.

With Thomson joining fellow quarter-final winners Lea Richter Vogelius (DEN), Pauline Courtois (FRA), and Juliet Costanzo (AUS) in the final four, the stage is set for a thrilling last day in Chicago as the 2025 Women’s Match Racing World Champion is decided.
