12:02pm: Lucky is setting a great pace – between Tiritiri Matangi and Whangaparaoa they take the pole.

10:30am: with all of the yachts now started and making their way up the course, there is a tight pack just above Rangitoto. The race starts!

9:35am: the race is underway, video from on-the-water. There are 3 starts, depending on categories… They run between 9:30 and 10am.

9:11am: standing by for the start, its now at 9:30.

8:46am On-boat reporting starts! On his second PIC Coastal Classic, this young man is talking knowledge!

8:33am Light winds are a key consideration, as we get ready for the sails to go up at 10 am.

Our team are ready for a day of sailing action – between Auckland and Russell we have it covered for you. The race has started!

12:02pm: Lucky is pushing to the front! Between Tiritiri Matangi and Whangaparaoa, Bryon and the team have taken the lead. Callisto is there close to Shakespear Regional Park (light blue).

11:53am – read about Team Vixen Racing, they are competing in Cat 1B, and have a woman skipper, 3 woman owners, and a 50/50 split in female/male crew.

11:15am – The 19 boats of 1b are pushing forwards. This group includes Fez (last years handicap winner), Vixen running at 50/50 crew of women and men, and Sassinate the latter of which is leading at this moment.

The two American boats, crewed mainly by Kiwi’s – are showing what they are made on in Category 1a – Lucky and Callisto are leading, but only just. Category 1 has left the pack, and starting to push forwards.
