Lowrance ActiveTarget 2 XL live sonar raises the bar for real time fishing

Surface to surface clarity, wider coverage, and faster switching bring live sonar closer to looking underwater.

Live sonar has already changed how Kiwi anglers fish. With the release of the new ActiveTarget 2 XL, Lowrance has pushed that advantage even further, delivering what it calls the world’s clearest and most complete 180 degree live sonar view.

At the heart of the system is the new XL transducer. Lowrance state that resolution was already a strength of ActiveTarget, but XL sharpens the picture again. Fish, bait, and lure movement appear with striking clarity, updating in real time as conditions change. For anglers working structure or tracking fish behaviour, the difference is immediate and practical.

The headline feature is the expanded field of vision. ActiveTarget 2 XL delivers full surface to surface 180 degree views across Forward, Down, and Scout modes, all from a single transducer. Forward XL shows everything from the moment a lure enters the water to the strike. Down XL expands the live image beneath the boat from bow to stern. Scout XL provides a wide overhead view ahead of the boat, ideal for locating bait schools and fish before making a cast.

Switching between views is faster than ever. A redesigned mount allows anglers to move between Forward XL and Down XL directly from the display, without manually repositioning the transducer. Entering Scout mode is also quicker, with clear angle markers for shallow or deep water setups.

ActiveTarget 2 XL is designed as a simple upgrade. It works with existing ActiveTarget 2 modules and is compatible with HDS PRO, HDS LIVE, HDS Carbon, and Elite FS displays. For anglers already invested in the Lowrance ecosystem, it is a clean step forward.
