Elixir is a 2007 Roger Simpson design fast cruising Catamaran. Elixir is a 2007 Roger Simpson design fast cruising Catamaran. Modern lines with Catamaran favourites like forward tramps, stepped access transoms and a beach landing forward ladder incorporated.
Experienced original commission owner specified simplicity for a potential commercial venture on Lake Taupo. Although this didn’t eventuate, Elixir has benefited from well-conceived simple systems that make her suitable for single handed sailing and easy maintenance. GRP (fibreglass) composite hulls and wing deck, final designs by High Modulus (Auckland), built in Taupo to survey standards (but never put into commercial survey).
8 berths (2 x doubles), big single head and shower, galley down, 2 outdoor seating areas, 12v fridge(new) and LPG stove, plenty of storage. Central helm station with captain’s chair, GPS, depth, wind sensor, auto helm, 2 x 15hp outboards (less than 8 years old), 312w solar panel, dinghy davits, 2.9m dinghy, Custom Mike Piearce Boatbuilders hardtop (less than 6 years old), electric drum – anchor winch and electric main halyard winch, all other winches are 2 speed, brand NEW (Willis Sails) big roachy main, self-tacking jib and a big spinnaker in a sock (simple but effective sail plan) Sails easily single-handed. Elixir’s oversized rigging and well-built hulls, easy to manage engines and systems on board will equally suit the novice and experienced sailors.
This is a wonderful vessel for cruising NZ waters for weekends and long stay holidays. Comfortable liveaboard potential too and a lot more fun than anchored to a section! Elixir has completed annual maintenance incl engines serviced and is ready to go.
