Waiheke’s boutique floating marina hosts a boutique floating café – the only one in Pūtiki Bay, a hub for Sealink ferries and boating
enthusiasts. Café Koko’s owners Kohei and Akane Yamashita bring global experience. Kohei has worked in Michelin-starred kitchens and at Amano Café in Britomart, while Akane, from Japan’s Yamanashi wine region, mastered baking at home and honed barista skills at Ralph Lauren before joining Stolen Summer and Hugo’s Bistro in Auckland.
For now, the café opens early and closes mid-afternoon six days a week, with private functions by request. This year (2026), they expect an on-licence and extended hours. Coffee is the focus, featuring Espresso Workshop beans from Orakei. Artisan bread, made onsite from whole grain rice, adds a distinctive touch. The menu includes pastries, sandwiches, and bakery items, with flexibility for customer requests. With two days’ notice, they’ll prepare boxed lunches or dinners for your boat.
