After the incident in Race 3, a Rule 14 heading has been held.
Race 3
The umpires have concluded that the Race 3 start incident involving Brazil, Italy, and the USA should result in penalties for causing serious damage.
Event point penalties have been allocated as follows:
- Team USA has been penalised 7 points
- Italy has been penalised 4 points
- No penalty has been issued to Brazil
Boating New Zealand has reached out to SailGP to understand the damage caused in Race 3. At this time we have not had any feedback.
Race Final
Additionally, there was consideration of a penalty in Race 3, very close to the end between Emirates GBR and The Bonds Flying Roos.
There was no penalty given in the final at the last mark following protests from both Australia and Great Britain.
