McConaghy acquires Cure Marine

Written by

McConaghy has agreed to acquire the brand and intellectual property of Cure Marine, the Australian builder of high-performance sailing catamarans.

This marks a new chapter for the Cure series, evolving from a proposed production partnership into full integration within the McConaghy portfolio. Manufacturing will transition to McConaghy’s advanced facilities, leveraging its expertise in composite engineering and autoclave technology.

Cure Marine has concluded operations, with production now under McConaghy. To ensure continuity and maintain high client service standards, Ed Penn has joined McConaghy as Sales Manager for the Cure series, leading global commercial efforts.

“We saw a unique opportunity to bring a successful Australian design into the McConaghy fold,” said Group Managing Director Mark Evans. “Combining Cure’s performance-driven IP with our global production scale and technical expertise ensures a strong and sustainable future for these catamarans. We’re also pleased to welcome Ed Penn, whose extensive industry experience will support continuity for our clients.”

While production shifts internationally, the brand retains its Australian heritage through its connection to McConaghy’s Sydney headquarters and ongoing collaboration with the original design team.

McConaghy is already progressing design updates to the Cure 55GT and 48GT, with further details to be announced later.
