Navico adopts sustainable packaging

Navico, parent company to the Lowrance, Simrad Yachting, B&G and C-MAP brands, has embarked on becoming a more sustainable company.

The first step was a transition to 100% recyclable and sustainable packaging in new product offerings, along with the appointment of its first-ever Chief Sustainability Officer, Tara Norton.

In 2019, Navico formed a global team featuring featured specialists from different departments to design and produce new, cost-effective but fully sustainable packaging with a premium finish and great customer experience. The team initially moved from plastic clamshell systems to 100% recyclable cardboard and paper packaging.

Changes this year include Styrofoam being replaced by Mushroom Packaging, a custom-moulded, home-compostable material created by combining hemp and mycelium. Plastic bags will be replaced by Aquapak’s Hydropol bags made from polymers engineered to be non-toxic, marine-safe and soluble in warm or hot water.
