Designed and built as a cruiser/racer, by John Lidgard, Bluegrass was launched in 1977. Designed and built as a cruiser/racer, by John Lidgard, Bluegrass was launched in 1977. Built strongly in triple skin kauri, glassed over, she has a beautifully fair and shapely hull.
She is an excellent example of the Golden era of New Zealand boatbuilding. All the hard work has been fastidiously undertaken by her skilled, current owner, with some very minor finishing required. This can easily be achieved by a competent handy person, however this in no way affects her immediate use and she is ready to sail away Now!
All her original character is intact with valuable modern additions such as the new engine (310hrs) and various systems. 2021 – New engine (Beta 50), new driveline (coupling, shaft, bearing and 3 blades feathering propeller) all new electrics, new standing rigging and halyards, all new skin fittings and valves, new refrigeration, entirely repainted. Double berth cabin in bow, big bathroom just aft and central salon.
Dinette converts to additional double berth and 2 quarter berths aft either side of cockpit. Wheel steering and a “Hydrovane” wind vane self-steering system. This is a yachtsman’s yacht for those who appreciate quality and craftmanship.
