Whether you’re launching from a remote beach, cruising to your favourite fishing spot, or hauling gear to a secluded bach, the 2023 Sealegs 8I Alloy Cabin is built to do it all—without a boat ramp in sight.

Amphibious confidence with System 70

The backbone of this model is the proven Sealegs System 70 amphibious technology. With All-Wheel Drive, a selectable 2WD mode, and Diff Lock, this system handles soft sand, uneven ramps and even rough beach terrain with ease. Power steering and an Automatic Braking System (ABS) make driving on land intuitive, while Xtended Run Time gives you more flexibility during beach excursions or manoeuvring around your property.

Propelled by a 35HP inboard motor on land and a Yamaha 250HP four-stroke outboard on water, the transition between modes is near seamless. Whether you’re beach-launching for a day on the water or driving directly from your driveway to the tide line, this Sealegs is built to remove logistical barriers to boating.

A serious performer at sea

On the water, the Sealegs 8I Alloy Cabin delivers serious performance. The Yamaha 250HP engine is both responsive and efficient, fed by a 250L underfloor fuel tank ideal for long-range missions. Zipwake trim tabs offer automatic pitch and roll correction, making for a smoother ride even in cross-swell or variable chop.

Fishos will appreciate the fully kitted-out cockpit, which includes a bait station with cubby locker, a bait tank with sink, a large underfloor kill tank, and a rocket launcher with rod holders perched on the cabin roof. The saltwater washdown system makes clean-up a breeze after a successful mission, and mid-ship cleats ensure easy tie-offs at docks or pontoons.

Inside the alloy cabin

Step inside and you’ll find a layout that balances comfort with practicality. Twin pedestal seats up front give the skipper and crew a commanding view behind the bow camera and headlight, while sliding side windows and dual cabin hatches provide airflow when needed. The Fusion stereo with four speakers offers excellent audio quality to set the tone for your day on the water.

The queen seat setup—including Queen seat fridge, port and starboard Queen seats, and an Icey-Tek chilly bin—ensures no one goes hungry or thirsty. Squabs and an infill allow for relaxing or even catching a quick nap between dives or fish runs. A marine toilet with privacy screen brings an added level of convenience for longer days afloat.

Loaded with features, bow to stern

This rig is packed with clever details that make a difference. There’s a Savwinch drum winch with a stainless-steel anchor, tucked neatly underdeck for a clean bow profile. Windscreen wipers and washers keep your view clear, while courtesy lighting, deck tread, and strategically placed internal cabin roof handles enhance onboard safety and ease of movement.

A ski hoop opens up watersports possibilities, while the canvas awning and cockpit cover provide shade and shelter when needed. Add the full wrap and this is a boat that turns heads—on land and at sea.

Electronics are taken care of with a SIMRAD NSS16 EVO3 chartplotter, SIMRAD RS20 VHF, and Navionics Platinum+ chart, providing pinpoint navigation, safety comms, and detailed marine data.

The perfect boat for bold Kiwis

The 8I Alloy Cabin is ideal for boaters who want to fish in the morning, explore islands in the afternoon, and drive the whole rig straight up the beach at day’s end. From serious fish hunters to adventurous families, this boat suits anyone who wants to skip the trailer, avoid crowded ramps, and expand their boating lifestyle.

With its blend of performance, practicality, and comfort—not to mention a full amphibious drivetrain—this 2023 Sealegs 8I is unlike anything else on the water or the beach.
