Barcelona dawned with a misty cloud cover hanging over the city with all the forecast models suggesting little chance of breeze until much later in the afternoon and early evening. It’s a transitional front moving through and ushering in a positive weather pattern from the west, drawing breeze in from the Atlantic and making racing on Tuesday an exciting prospect.

Ricardo Pinto / America’s Cup

With this forecast in mind, the call was made by Race Director, Iain Murray, early this morning to postpone racing for the day in the Puig Women’s America’s Cup where we had expected to get four Group B races away today and continue the monumental podium battle that started yesterday between the Dutch, Spanish, Australian and Swedish teams.

Ricardo Pinto / America’s Cup

For the America’s Cup teams, it is tight at the top of the standings with Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli four points clear of Athena Pathway. Emirates Team New Zealand are currently in the third podium qualification spot, three points ahead of Alinghi Red Bull Racing, so the battle is real and all the teams are desperate to secure their place and progress further in the competition. No room for error now.

Winners will emerge on what’s looking like an awesome day of racing for the finest female athletes on the planet on Tuesday. Questions will be answered and the top six contenders (three from each Group) will then go into a final series on Friday to decide the top two teams to race in the Puig Women’s America’s Cup Match Race Final. That race will be broadcast in between races of the Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup Match on Sunday, October 13.

The up-and-coming stars of future America’s Cups are locked in battle for the inaugural Puig Women’s America’s Cup – the postponement only adds to the excitement building up around Port Vell. You don’t want to miss what has now become ‘Super Tuesday.’
