Porsche and Frauscher redefine electric luxury on water with the 850 Fantom

Porsche has joined forces with Austria’s Frauscher Shipyard once again, delivering a stunning new creation to the electric sports boat market—the Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom. This luxurious runabout with a closed foredeck and cabin combines Porsche's electric vehicle technology with Frauscher’s maritime craftsmanship.

Blending iconic design with cutting-edge tech

The 850 Fantom is  nood to sustainable mobility, extending its expertise beyond the road. Drawing from the Porsche Macan Turbo, the boat features a 400 kW permanently excited synchronous motor, delivering smooth, powerful thrust. A state-of-the-art 100 kWh high-voltage battery, equipped with silicon carbide-enhanced power electronics, ensures efficiency while maintaining thrilling performance.

The design echoes Porsche’s automotive elegance. Studio F. A. Porsche and Style Porsche were instrumental in shaping the 850 Fantom’s aesthetic, integrating hallmark sports car elements into its structure. The result is a timeless, luxurious silhouette, complemented by a spacious cabin and cockpit.

Luxury redefined on water

The 8.67-metre long, 2.49-metre-wide vessel offers seating for seven passengers, with features like a swimming platform, sunbathing lounge, and a high-end audio system. The cockpit showcases Porsche-styled seats and a sports-car-inspired steering wheel, with the Porsche Crest adding a distinctive touch.

For personalisation enthusiasts, the boat offers extensive options. Owners can choose upholstery colours, stitching patterns, and hull finishes, mirroring the customisation choices available for Porsche cars.

Performance that thrills

The 850 Fantom delivers exhilarating speeds, reaching up to 90 km/h (49 knots) in Sport Plus mode. Its driving modes—Docking, Range, Sport, and Sport Plus—ensure versatility, from serene cruising to thrilling sprints. With a cruising range of 45 km at 41 km/h, it balances excitement with practical expectation of limited range and the anxiety that may cause.

Charging is apparently advanced: DC charging supports up to 270 kW, enabling swift recharge times, while AC charging up to 11 kW caters to slower, more conventional setups.

A new standard in electric boating

This masterpiece isn’t just about performance—it’s about sustainability. By utilising the electric drivetrain from the Macan Turbo, Porsche demonstrates its dedication to environmentally conscious innovation. The hull and battery suspension are engineered to handle the rigours of high-speed maritime travel, showcasing durability and forward-thinking design.
