The Wajer 55 isn’t just a pretty face—though it’s certainly that. The new design was developed in partnership with Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design, and Vripack Naval Architects, with engineering completed in-house by Wajer. The result is a sleek and functional vessel that borrows design cues from across the Wajer line, all while staying true to the brand’s core principles: understated elegance, exceptional usability, and peerless attention to detail.
Wajer designs has taken the concept of ‘form follows function’ and flipped it on its head. Every curve, from the pronounced bow flair to the tumblehome stern (reminiscent of a classic Porsche 911), serves both an aesthetic and practical purpose. Gone are cluttered lines and visible hardware. Everything—from cleats to fenders to the anchor system—is cleanly integrated and controllable from the helm. The result is a super-slick, minimalist exterior that hides a raft of sophisticated features.

Power comes from three Volvo Penta D6-IPS engines (either 600 or 650 variants), offering a top speed of 38 knots and a comfortable cruising pace at 28. With joystick control, Dynamic Positioning System (DPS), and Garmin multi-function displays, the Wajer 55 is designed to be easy to handle—even solo. Owners who like to be in the driver’s seat, literally, will appreciate the intuitive layout of the cockpit. Twin suspended helm seats, premium upholstery, and a custom leather-and-metal steering wheel make it as much a pilot’s boat as a luxury day cruiser.
Below deck, Wajer has reworked the interior with warm veneers, stitched upholstery, and tactile materials to create a more inviting, almost home-like feel. It’s not a full-blown liveaboard, but it’s easily comfortable enough for overnight stays or weekend escapes around the Hauraki Gulf or Bay of Islands. There’s a galley, a head with a separate shower, and a stylish master suite—ideal for couples or small groups.

One major practical upgrade is the tender garage. The Wajer 55 now houses a Williams TurboJet, launched via an integrated system and accessible thanks to an extendable swim platform that also aids side-boarding. For those using the Wajer 55 as a superyacht tender or chase boat, this will be a welcome evolution. The model is CE-B certified and offers seating for up to 20, making it equally suited to big beach club trips, transfers from motherships, or sunset cocktail cruises.
From a business standpoint, Wajer continues to push hard into the high-end superyacht support space. Their Care programme, with hubs across Europe and the US, includes 24/7 support, concierge-level trip planning, and technical inspections—essentially turning boat ownership into a turnkey luxury experience.

Wajer CEO Dries Wajer puts it simply: “We didn’t just update the Wajer 55—we reimagined it.” That means refined detailing down to hidden hinges, new sculptural deck shapes, and a focus on making the boat quiet, dry, and above all, easy to live with. Even the best compliment Dries says he’s ever received from a customer wasn’t about performance or looks—it was that the Wajer 55 had changed the way they lived, opening a new chapter centred around the boat.
For New Zealanders after a premium day boat or superyacht tender that looks sharp in Viaduct Harbour and has the legs for extended cruising, the Wajer 55 should be firmly on the radar. It’s a design that balances beauty and brains—elegant enough to turn heads, yet capable and comfortable enough to back it up over a long day on the water or a weekend away.
