Rayglass launches the all-new Legend 2700 at Hutchwilco Boat Show

Published

Unveiled this past Thursday at the 2025 Hutchwilco New Zealand Boat Show, the brand-new Rayglass Legend 2700 made a bold statement — bigger, smarter, and more versatile than ever before. Building on the trusted pedigree of the award-winning Legend 2500, the 2700 raises the bar for adventure-ready trailer boats in New Zealand.

Rayglass describes the 2700 as a vessel built to “go everywhere and handle anything” — and they’re not exaggerating. It retains the signature Rayglass unsinkable hull and is designed to tackle a wide range of Kiwi boating activities, from deepwater fishing missions and cruising the coastline to overnight getaways with the family. At 8.2 metres long and built on a proven platform, this boat has the room and capability to act as a ‘second home’ on the sea.

The 2700 blends comfort, practicality, and rugged performance. A spacious hardtop cabin, well-proportioned galley kitchen, and separate enclosed toilet make overnighting not just possible, but genuinely comfortable. Teak cabinetry, a 50L fridge/freezer, twin gas hob, hot and cold running water, and even a hot water cylinder make extended trips easy. The cabin includes upholstered squabs with storage, LED lighting throughout, and 12V/USB power options for modern convenience.

One of the most impressive features is the flexibility in engine and cockpit configurations. Boaters can choose between three propulsion options: a single Mercury outboard (300 V8 to 400 V10), twin Mercury outboards (200–225 V6s), or an inboard 3.0L 270hp diesel stern drive. Each layout is paired with a robust electronics and control suite including Simrad MFDs, 3-in-1 transducers, VesselView engine monitoring, Zipwake or Lenco trim tabs, and thoughtfully for the modern family, wireless charging stations.

The cockpit of the Rayglass 2700 is where things get interesting. Rayglass has introduced modular engine box options, offering removeable modules tailored to individual needs. Keen anglers can swap out seating squabs for a fibreglass fishing station featuring a large tackle drawer, knife and Ikigun holders, rod holders, cup holders, and plumbed drainage — all while maintaining the boat’s clean, ergonomic design.

Weather protection and visibility are top-tier. The 2700 features a flat glass windscreen for clear views, sliding side windows for airflow, and a standard sunroof for added light. Marine-grade upholstery and adjustable king and queen seats keep skipper and passengers comfortable, while LED lighting (including underwater lights) ensures visibility day and night.

Practical touches abound: live bait tanks, freshwater and saltwater washdowns, a transom shower, removable cockpit tables, generous gunwale storage, and multiple mooring cleats. The transom is equipped with a telescopic boarding ladder, grab rails, and bait boards to cater to swimmers and fishers alike.

Whether you’re heading off-grid or just chasing kingfish at your favourite offshore spot, the Rayglass 2700 offers capability and comfort in equal measure. It’s more than a day boat — it’s an all-season platform for real boating adventures.

Rayglass has clearly listened to its customer base, and the 2700 feels like a natural next step in the evolution of the trailerable cruiser. For anyone looking to upgrade to a boat that can truly do it all, the 2700 is worth a serious look.
