Rayglass set to launch new Legend 2700

Rayglass Boats is set to expand its popular Legend range with the release of a brand-new model — the Legend 2700. The highly anticipated cruiser is due to be unveiled on May 15th at 10am NZST.

Rayglass is keeping most details under wraps until the official launch, but it’s clear the 2700 will fill a sweet spot between the existing Legend 2500 and the flagship Legend 2800. Both current hardtop models are proven performers in New Zealand conditions, and the new release is expected to blend the best of both worlds — capability, comfort, and design innovation.

The Legend 2800, Rayglass’s flagship model in the range, is widely respected as a long-range bluewater cruiser. It boasts a longer hull and refined design that delivers exceptional fuel efficiency and a soft ride, even when the seas turn nasty. Its layout is perfect for extended fishing missions or family getaways, offering ample space to overnight in comfort and style.

The current Legend lineup also includes the versatile 2500, a more compact yet fully capable hardtop. It gives buyers a choice between outboard and stern drive propulsion. The stern drive version opens up space at the transom, allowing for a generous swim platform — a favourite feature among divers, swimmers, and families alike. The 2500 still has all the essentials for overnighting, with a focus on flexibility and usability.

The new Legend 2700 is expected to bridge these two. Will it lean toward the long-range, offshore capability of the 2800 or offer a more customisable, lifestyle-friendly setup like the 2500? It may well combine the range and ruggedness of the 2800 with the practical design features of the 2500 — making it an ideal option for serious fishers and recreational boaters alike. Time will tell, and we look forward to discovering what’s new or different after their reveal.

What’s certain is that, like all Rayglass Legends, the 2700 will feature a fully enclosed hardtop — a staple of the series that delivers protection from the elements and year-round usability. With Rayglass’s reputation for hull design, high build quality, and smart ergonomics, expectations are high.

Whether you’re chasing kingfish in the outer Gulf or planning a weekend anchored in a quiet bay, the new Legend 2700 promises to deliver a capable, comfortable and stylish ride.
