CHASE BOAT DRIVER / MOTORBOAT MECHANIC
ROLE OVERVIEW
K-Challenge, the French Challenger for the Louis Vuitton 38th America’s Cup, to be held in Naples, Italy, in Spring / Summer 2027 is looking for a chase boat driver / Motorboat mechanic to start on the 15th April 2026 until end of July 2027. The role is between Lorient, France and then Naples, Italy.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
K-Challenge is seeking an experienced chase boat driver / motorboat mechanic to join its team and take part in the America’s Cup. The main responsibilities will include :
- Safely and efficiently operating the team’s support boats during training sessions and regattas: towing, safety operations, and transport of technical teams.
- Maintaining the boats: mechanical work, engine maintenance, repairs, cleaning, etc.
- Managing fuel supply and ensuring onboard equipment is properly maintained and always operational.
- Following team protocols, including safety procedures, and participating in briefings to ensure smooth communication with shore teams and race organization.
- Assist the team with boat operations / craning.
PROFILE
> Proven experience operating RIBs (Rigid Inflatable Boats) or high-performance powerboats in a professional environment
> Powerboat license required. A commercial maritime qualification such as Captain 200 / Yachtmaster is a plus
> Strong knowledge of maritime safety procedures
> Skills in maintenance of outboard-powered boats. Relevant technical training required.
> Ability to work proactively under pressure and adapt to changing situations
>Strong team spirit and excellent communication skills
>Fluency in English is mandatory; French and Italian are an advantage
CONDITIONS
– Full time position on a freelance basis
– Rate depending on experience
– Based in Lorient for until September 2026 and then in Naples, Italy
