Rising star Marin Carnot lost his mast on Monday 18 May at 5:12am. The Figaro was sailing in manageable conditions with winds of 15 to 18 knots and seas of 1 to 1.5 metres. The skipper is safe and well, and his boat was quickly secured just metres off Wolf Rock lighthouse by Trimaran Express and the race support vessel No Limit. Express is now towing Carnot’s Figaro back towards a port in northern Brittany, though no final destination has been confirmed yet. ©Thomas Campion
