The work of Australian designer Marc Newson throughout, from exterior styling to the finest interior detail, the yard confirms the finished vessel is unchanged from the original digital design conceived six years ago.
Among the yacht’s defining features is a large glass Skydome housing a private owner’s study, engineered using custom-bent sections of thick glass to deliver 360-degree panoramic views. A split-level gallery and a glass-encased observation lounge in the bow add to the standout interior spaces.
The aft deck is centred on a swimming pool and Jacuzzi arrangement. A full dry dock aft houses a 12.5-metre sportfish tender, launched and retrieved via a bespoke sledge system that retracts fully out of sight, turning the space into a sheltered al fresco guest area.
Built to Ice Class 1D for operation in light ice conditions, NAUSICAÄ has the range and capability to reach all five major oceans and all seven continents. She also carries a research installation of a methanol fuel cell, converting methanol to hydrogen for onboard electricity generation.
The project marks Lürssen’s 150th anniversary. “There are some yachts that leave an indelible mark on our history,” said Peter Lürssen. “NAUSICAÄ is undoubtedly one of those.”
