Caribbean 420 Express – Now for sale

Written by

The Caribbean 420 Express made its official global debut back in August 2015 at the Sydney International Boat Show, and it arrived with an incredible piece of history attached to it. Built by Melbourne’s legendary International Marine, who have recently been acquired by the Australian luxury motor yacht powerhouse Maritimo, this specific model line holds a massive factory milestone as hull number 55,555 produced by the yard.

When you look at its design lineage, it is a single-level sedan cruiser built directly on the proven, deep-vee bluewater hull platform of the iconic Caribbean 40 Flybridge Cruiser. Because International Marine spent decades building Bertram motor yachts under license, that famous Bertram rough-water DNA runs heavily through this monohull, though packaged with a much more modern interior layout. Right now, this particular 2015 model is listed for sale in Tauranga, Bay of Plenty through Tauranga Boat Sales, carrying an asking price of $745,000 NZD with low engine hours in fantastic condition.

Stepping onto the boat, the exterior lines look incredibly clean and timeless with an all-white hull matched by a white superstructure on top. The transom area is an absolute dream if you love being out on the water, offering a massive 111 square feet of cockpit space laid entirely in tidy real teak. It is set up beautifully for entertaining or extended trips, featuring a large 240-volt cockpit freezer and a starboard cockpit couch. Underneath the cockpit floor, you get great lazarette storage, while the transom itself is fully rigged for game fishing with game poles, a center rigger, and a live bait tank. On the back, an extended teak-laid swim platform makes walk-on, walk-off boarding completely effortless, and it even features a stainless steel arch and bait board along with underwater lights for a great night-time vibe.

Moving inside, the beauty of this single-level sedan layout is that it keeps everyone social and safely on the same level without any ladder climbing. An opening port rear bulkhead window swings right open to connect the interior naturally with the cockpit. The saloon itself feels incredibly light and airy with plenty of sitting space on comfortable leather couches surrounded by a shiny, high-gloss polished teak wood finish. The starboard couch is even designed with clever straps to the ceiling, allowing it to convert into a single and double bed for extra guests. Right forward of the seating area is a beautifully configured galley that includes a standard layout with an Isotherm 12-volt fridge, an in-bench 240-volt freezer, a convection microwave oven, and a four-burner induction hob.

The helm area is remarkably roomy and frames a fantastic driving experience with easy visibility through full wrap-around windows. The driving station is equipped with a comfortable navigator chair, twin Raymarine Hybrid Touch displays, autopilot, radar, a Muir rode counter, trim tabs, a remote searchlight, and three windscreen wipers with freshwater squirters and a front screen shade. Moving down into the accommodations, the boat features a very clean and spacious head with a Vacuflush freshwater toilet system and holding tank. The master cabin forward is a private lock-up double with an island bed, while the lock-up guest cabin features a highly practical setup with large bunk beds.

Down below, the engine cavity is immaculately clean and tidy, housing twin 500-horsepower QSC Cummins diesel shaft engines with just 775 hours on them. This traditional shaft setup offers great reliability and pushes the solid fiberglass hull to a comfortable 24-plus knot cruise and a swift 30-knot top speed. For staying off the grid, the boat is equipped with a 9.5 KVA Onan generator and a dedicated house battery bank, while a bow thruster makes docking a breeze. There is even a 95-liter-per-hour watermaker on board that has not been used. With a massive capacity for 2000 liters of fuel and 650 liters of fresh water, this vessel is completely ready for extended coastal cruising or serious offshore fishing adventures.
