AC75 capsize halts La Roche-Posay Racing Team training off Lorient
La Roche-Posay Racing Team’s AC75 capsized during a training session off Lorient, France, on Tuesday, July 7, after a system failure brought the boat down on the water.
The French Louis Vuitton 38th America’s Cup campaign had only just put its new AC75 through its paces in home waters for the first time, with skipper Quentin Delapierre and Diego Botin sharing helming duties since the boat’s maiden sail off Lorient earlier in the month. Tuesday’s session ended abruptly when the systems failure occurred, capsizing the boat.
The crew escaped unharmed and the AC75 has since been returned to the team’s base at Lorient.
La Roche-Posay’s technical team is now assessing the damage and working to complete repairs as quickly as possible, with the team keen to get the boat back on the water and continue building towards race mode ahead of the 2027 America’s Cup in Naples.
