Sea-Doo unveils 350hp jet skis and Senna special edition

Written by

Sea-Doo has pushed its personal watercraft range to 350 horsepower for 2027, the biggest power jump the brand has made to its performance line in three years, and topped it off with a limited-edition model built in tribute to Formula One legend Ayrton Senna.

The RXP-X, RXT-X and GTX Limited all move from 325hp to 350hp, courtesy of an updated Rotax 1630 ACE engine. Sea-Doo lifted the rev limit from 8250rpm to 8500rpm and fitted a larger boost wheel, up from 72.5mm to 75.5mm, alongside a new ride plate, intake grate and jet pump housing. In practical terms, that’s a bigger gulp of air compressed harder, which is how a supercharged engine finds more power without simply growing in size. The changes trim the 0-60mph sprint from 3.4 seconds to 3.1.

One casualty of the upgrade: the GTX Limited 350 loses the Intelligent Debris-Free reverse-thrust system fitted to the outgoing 325hp version.

Heading the range is the RXP-X Senna 350, a partnership with the family of the three-time world champion, who died in 1994. Just 1,991 will be built worldwide, a nod to 1991, the year Senna won his third and final title. The unit carries a Racing Yellow and Amazon Green colour scheme drawn from the Brazilian flag and Senna’s own helmet design, his signature and the words “Born to win” engraved around the craft, and the years 1988, 1990 and 1991 marking his championship seasons. A rear-seat extension, normally a paid extra, comes standard, turning it into a two-seater, along with an 80-watt sound system and a Senna-branded storage cover. Ayrton’s nephew Bruno Senna, who raced briefly in F1 before moving to endurance sport-car racing, is the model’s ambassador, and the family has signed off on the tribute.

It’s not the first time Sea-Doo has borrowed a Formula One name. Australian driver Daniel Ricciardo fronted a limited-edition RXP-X 300 Apex in 2023. Sea-Doo’s product strategy manager, Christian Comtois, told media at the Orlando preview that demand tends to spike whenever the brand adds performance, adding: “now 350hp is just a finger tip away.”

The overhaul isn’t limited to the performance range. Sea-Doo’s entry-level Spark line gets a new 999cc engine, badged the 1000 ACE, replacing the previous 899cc unit, with outputs of 60, 90 and 110hp, the last a step up from the previous 90hp ceiling. A redesigned hull and new jet pump, stator and intake grate accompany a claimed top speed rise from 48mph to 55mph.

Sea-Doo has a long history of trading blows with Kawasaki and Yamaha over PWC power, and this 350hp jump continues that decades-old contest. Local pricing and confirmation of New Zealand allocation for the Senna edition have not yet been released; Australian pricing for the RXP-X Senna 350 has been confirmed at AU$41,999 excluding trailer and registration, the first time a Sea-Doo has broken that price mark.
