The French builder’s new EX line debuts with a Hardtop and Cabin version, built on a purpose-built deep-V hull.
Jeanneau has introduced EX, a new range of motorboats built around what the shipyard calls a philosophy of essentials: boats designed for direct, uncomplicated time on the water across the seasons. The first model, the EX 34, joins Jeanneau’s established Cap Camarat, Merry Fisher, Leader, NC, TH and DB Yachts lines rather than replacing any of them, extending the builder’s power range into a new category.
The EX 34 arrives from a builder with a lineage stretching back to 1957, when Henri Jeanneau began building wooden powerboats in Les Herbiers before pioneering fibreglass construction the following decade. Jeanneau has been part of Groupe Beneteau since 1995 and now produces several thousand boats a year across its sail and power ranges.
The name stands for Elements and Crossplatform, reflecting a boat designed around direct contact with the sea and a platform intended to adapt to different uses rather than a single style of boating.
Two configurations, one platform
The EX 34 is offered in two versions built on an identical deck platform: Hardtop and Cabin. Both share a five-zone layout: aft platform, aft cockpit, central saloon, helm station and forward lounge.
The Hardtop is the more open of the pair, built around a large aft sunpad and an aft cockpit designed for outdoor living, with a quick-deploy soft enclosure available to shelter occupants when conditions change. The Cabin swaps that open arrangement for a fully glazed, rigid wheelhouse with a sliding side window, air conditioning or heating, and a helm station that converts into an enclosed interior lounge, aimed at owners who want to extend their season into cooler months.

At the centre of the EX 34 is a purpose-built deep-V hull, developed specifically for the new range rather than adapted from an existing model. A deep-V profile is typically associated with a softer ride and better handling in a seaway compared with flatter hull forms, though independent sea trials of the EX 34 have yet to be published.

Below deck, both versions share an identical arrangement of two cabins and a separate head, sleeping up to four for genuine overnight use.
New to the range, not yet in New Zealand
The EX 34 is designed and built in Les Herbiers, France, styled by Jeanneau Design and Centkowski & Denert Design Studio. Jeanneau’s New Zealand dealer, Orakei Marine in Auckland, has not yet confirmed pricing, stock or an arrival timeline for the EX 34.
