EV Maritime has been appointed by Echo Marine Group to provide electrical systems integration for five battery-electric fast ferries for Western Australia’s METRONET on Swan Ferry Service Expansion. The ferries will operate on Perth’s Swan River under contract to the WA Public Transport Authority.

Working with naval architect One2three Naval Architects, EV Maritime will deliver electrical integration and engineering for key onboard systems. The project extends EV Maritime’s direct-procurement model, supporting local operators and governments with proven electric vessel technology.

The ferries are based on EV Maritime’s EVM200 platform, originally developed for Auckland Transport. Each 24-metre vessel will carry up to 200 passengers and contribute to Perth’s transport electrification goals.

Unlike the Auckland ferries, which used a large supply-chain team, these vessels are being built as a standardized platform design. This approach allows EV Maritime to focus on engineering and systems integration while showcasing the performance and scalability of the EVM200 platform.
