In a dramatic turn of events, Emirates Team New Zealand has secured a commanding victory in today’s high-stakes race. From the very beginning, the Kiwis showcased their sailing prowess with a powerful start, establishing an early lead that they maintained throughout.

Despite a promising start by Italy, the race took a critical turn as technical difficulties plagued the Italian team. Reports indicate that Italy experienced a severe systems failure, with the team reporting, “We’ve lost the boat, we’ve lost the boat.” The breakdown resulted in a significant speed disparity, with New Zealand reaching speeds of 50 knots while Italy struggled at just 13 knots.

The Kiwis surged ahead, completing their second length of the course while Italy had only finished their first. At the halfway point, New Zealand was already 20 seconds ahead, showcasing their superior performance.

Ultimately, the situation for Italy worsened, leading to the team’s retirement from the race. Luna Rossa, the Italian team, made the difficult decision to pull the pin, officially ending their participation.
