Starlink, the satellite Internet provider owned by SpaceX/Elon Musk, is increasing the functionality of the package available for Boats and RVs in New Zealand; this also comes with a price increase.
The great news for boaties with Starlink is that we are now able to use the service while in motion in coastal areas. Until now we were able to use Starlink only at anchor. In order to use the service while moving, it was necessary to purchase a further upgrade in data and service.
We are interested to know if everyone has received this notice about the change in service features and service price of the Roam package from Starlink.
Starlink Notice Of Service Changes and Price Rise

The package has been priced previously at $199, and required the Starlink Router to be stationary. With this change, the price increases to $222.

We would love to hear from you in the comments below, drop us your thoughts on the service and price increase.
The communication from Starlink reads:

Thank you for being a Starlink customer. We are making changes to your service plan and price in order to deliver an improved Starlink experience.

Effective immediately, you will have access to the following features with Starlink Roam:
  • In-Motion Use
  • International Travel
  • Coastal Coverage
To support these enhancements and our ongoing network improvements, your monthly service price for Starlink Roam will be $222. The updated monthly price and new Terms of Service will go into effect starting 10/12/2024.

Thank you for being a Starlink Roam customer and supporting our efforts to deliver high-speed, low-latency internet across the globe!
