Neel Trimarans has entered a new phase following a court-approved takeover by three La Rochelle-based entrepreneurs, marking a decisive step in securing the future of the French multihull builder.
On 17 March 2026, the Commercial Court of La Rochelle approved the joint bid from Martin Volt, Maxime Védrenne, and Martin Lepoutre. The decision prevents liquidation of the shipyard, which had been in receivership since late 2025, and sets the foundation for a structured recovery.
The new leadership team brings complementary experience across production, sales, and operational management. Martin Volt, appointed CEO, has an engineering background and previously led marine maintenance operations through Bosco. Maxime Védrenne, now Managing Director, has deep commercial ties to the brand as a former dealer and distributor. Martin Lepoutre, formerly of Fora Marine, contributes extensive industrial and manufacturing expertise to support the transition and relaunch.
As one industry observers point out, the new leadership team will have their work cut out as they go through the process of reviving the shipyard.
The recovery plan centres on a measured production strategy, targeting approximately ten boats per year. This reflects a shift towards sustainable output aligned with the realities of the niche liveaboard trimaran market. The approach is designed to stabilise cash flow and avoid the risks associated with rapid scaling.
As part of the restructuring, 46 of the company’s 57 roles have been retained. This ensures continuity of key technical skills while enabling operational realignment.
Rebuilding the order book is an immediate priority. Neel Trimarans will return to the market with a presence at the International Multihull Show, where a Neel 52 will be displayed, alongside additional models presented by dealer partners. The aim is to reassure customers and demonstrate continuity of the brand.
Neel Trimarans has built a reputation for distinctive cruising trimarans that balance volume and performance. While operating in a specialised segment, the brand retains strong recognition among offshore and liveaboard sailors.
The takeover signals a positive outcome for the yard and the wider marine industry. Attention now turns to execution, as the new leadership works to restore confidence, rebuild demand, and re-establish Neel Trimarans as a stable player in the global multihull market.
