BLUEWATER KETCH FOR LSB

Work has begun at Lloyd Stevenson Boatbuilders on a 24m, ketch-rigged, bluewater cruiser known as H239, from the drawing board of Arnaud Yacht Design.

Intended for long distance sailing to remote locations and high latitudes, the vessel will be self-supporting and practical, but with a good level of comfort and performance, plus great safety for a live-aboard owner sailing mostly short-handed.

The low-profile overseas owner has a racing background and is excited to work with LSB to create his dream boat. Hull construction is six-skin, 50mm-thick, cold-moulded Alaskan yellow cedar. Length overall is 23.9m –22m on the waterline – beam is 5.60m and draft 3.80m. The vessel will have a displacement of 50 tonnes.

“It’s a perfect project for LSB,” says Luke Hill, Marketing & People Manager at LSB. “We are experienced in this kind of quality construction and the custom nature of the build is our strength. The whole team is excited to begin work.”

The ketch will be Lloyd and Tracey Stevenson’s 66th custom-built boat, their largest to date.
