Riviera Invitational Fishing Tournament

R Marine Flagship, New Zealand’s home of Riviera, is renowned for hosting spectacular events, either inside their Westhaven On Water Sales Arena, or on location somewhere around the coast.

This year R Marine Flagship is re-establishing its ever-popular Riviera Invitational Fishing Tournament, last held in 2010, revamped and re-imagined.

This four-day, family-focussed boating festival, to be held out of Whangaroa Harbour, is for more than just keen fishers. With daily activities and entertainment at Riviera HQ onshore, this event has something for the whole Riviera family to enjoy, including those are still waiting for their Riviera boat to arrive.

1996 | 10.00 m | 1996 Wavecrusher 10m Sedan 'Swift and Suite' — built tough for NZ conditions. 270hp MerCruiser diesel, 1,100 hrs, 6 berths, 500L fuel. Cruises at 17 knots, runs at 25. Priced at $90,000 in Whangamata.

Whangaroa Harbour is situated north of the Bay of Islands along one of New Zealand’s most spectacular coastlines, and the surrounding waters offer some of New Zealand’s best fishing.

For the tournament, the R Marine Flagship team will transform a waterfront marquee and the Whangaroa Sports Fishing Club, with all its facilities, into Riviera HQ.

Riviera HQ will offer live entertainment, local cuisine, and lots of fantastic areas in which to relax while catching up with fellow members of the Riviera family.

During the four-day event, Riviera motoryachts will take over magnificent Whangaroa Harbour. Boats are free to anchor in any of the surrounding bays – complementary Riviera water taxis will ferry people between their boats and Riviera HQ.

The Riviera Invitational Fishing Tournament is a no-kill, points-based measure and release/tag and release event. Points will be awarded so that contestants fishing for snapper have just as much opportunity to win as those fishing for marlin.
