FPT marine engines

Written by

FPT (Fiat Powertrain Technologies) is part of the Iveco Group, one of the largest heavy vehicle manufacturers in the world. Based in Turin, Italy, FTP manufacture over three million diesel engines annually for a wide range of applications including marine.

AB Equipment imports and distributes FPT in New Zealand through Lees Group. FPT has a long history of supplying diesel engines into the marine sector, often to other brands under rebadging or technology agreements, explains Adrian Penman, Marine Sales Engineer for Lees.

“Lees Group also have a long history of serving the NZ boat owner with quality products and Innovation and this continues with the FPT brand. This is backed up by a large parts inventory, technical support and an experienced service network”

The FPT range offers engines at price points often significantly lower than the competition, says Penman. FTP’s N60 (6L) and N67 (6.7L) engines range in power from 270hp through to 570hp – ideal for new-build or repower projects. The newly landed FPT N67 550hp engine boasts good looks and an impressive list of features and technology.

These well proven marine platforms provide high power density, excellent torque characteristics and reliable, quiet operation. They are compact and easy to service. The engines also have flexible control options, meaning existing helm controls can often be utilised in repower projects. FPT also offers a range of helm panels – from budget conscious options through to glass cockpit solutions.

Across the N60 & N67 range, there are seven variants, each available at different power settings suitable for either pleasure or commercial applications. All FPT engines come with long list of features and options such as hot water fittings, accessory drive pulley and oil extraction pump. Lees Group can also provide gearbox solutions.
