Excess 11 hybrid option brings quiet cruising to Kiwi waters

Excess adds a new hybrid package to its popular 11, now available through 36° Brokers.

Excess Catamarans has introduced a hybrid drive for the Excess 11, giving owners a quieter and cleaner way to get around without changing the boat’s sailing feel. The setup uses electric motors with modern battery management and regeneration under sail, trimming fuel burn while adding a useful layer of control in tight spaces.

On board, the difference shows straight away. You can ease out of an anchorage at dawn with barely a sound, line up for a berth with steady electric response, and rebuild charge while the sails are working. It suits the Excess 11’s lively hulls and keeps the fun of the platform intact without the rumble of a diesel.

For coastal families, weekend cruisers and liveaboard couples, the hybrid package adds a practical option that doesn’t complicate the boat. Range remains sensible, performance stays familiar, and day-to-day handling becomes noticeably smoother.

The Excess 11 Hybrid is now available to order in New Zealand through 36° Brokers, the authorised Excess dealer.
