Three new sailing cats in one year is a big ask of any production builder. Leopard Catamarans has done exactly that, with three new sailing models, two replacing existing designs and one new addition to the range. Sanctuary Cove Boat Show, running 21 to 24 May, is the first time the Australian and New Zealand market gets them on the dock.
The Leopard 52 replaces the 50, which was a strong seller and a well-regarded bluewater cruiser. The 52 builds on the same formula with more living space, improved indoor-outdoor flow and upgraded systems throughout. It’s aimed at owners who want to live aboard on long passages, not just get through them.
The Leopard 46 replaces the 45 and keeps the layout that’s made the range recognisable, with a forward cockpit, generous aft cockpit and a bright open saloon. Short-handed handling and crew comfort aren’t mutually exclusive here, and sailing performance has been a focus, suggesting the 46 moves on from the 45 in that respect. Like the 52, it works for private ownership and charter.

The Leopard 43 slots in below the 46, replacing the 42. It’s aimed at couples and smaller families after a capable bluewater cat in a manageable size, with smarter use of space and improved sailing efficiency over the model it replaces.
The Leopard 53 Powercat has been refreshed rather than replaced. Engine noise has always been a live-aboard power cat problem. A sealed engine room, completely separate from the living areas, deals with it. The saloon has been redesigned with Lewmar glass stackable doors opening directly to the cockpit, and the aft deck offers a modular layout with an optional electric lifting platform that doubles as a tender station and swim deck.
The 40 and 46 Powercats complete the Sanctuary Cove display, the 40 at the entry end and the 46 in the middle of the power cat range.
Leopard Catamarans Australia and New Zealand will be at Sanctuary Cove from 21 to 24 May. New Zealand inquiries can be directed to Jason on 022 677 2446.
