Police seek owner of unattended dinghy found at Hihi Beach

Written by

Northland Police want to hear from anyone who recognises a small dinghy found at Hihi Beach yesterday evening.

The light blue dinghy — roughly six feet long with a worn off-white interior — was spotted unattended around 5pm. Three freshly caught fish, a fishing net with floats, a loose seat cushion and a wooden bench seat were inside. Someone had been using it recently.

Police want to rule out any link to a missing or distressed person before treating it as abandoned. Anyone with information about the dinghy or where it had been is asked to call Police and quote event number P066683266.
