MasterCraft has unveiled a completely redesigned X22, replacing the previous 22ft model in its towboat range.
Early this year the company announced they had reengineered the running surface and redesigned the cockpit, transom and helm. Several features and styling details come from the larger X24, although MasterCraft has packaged them into a smaller hull.
The new running surface works with MasterCraft’s SurfStar system and 1,724kg, or 3,800lb, of ballast. Riders can choose between Rapid Surf presets and the more adjustable Custom Surf mode.
Rapid Surf provides preset wake shapes and should suit less experienced riders. Custom Surf allows the crew to adjust the wave for different boards, riders and surfing styles.
A 6.2 litre Ilmor engine is standard. MasterCraft also offers a supercharged version producing 630hp and 665lb ft of torque.
Two storage compartments at the transom can carry up to four boards in padded bags. Separate storage is available for ropes, towels and other watersports gear.
MasterCraft has also widened the cockpit and fitted deeper seating with new upholstery. The helm has two displays. One carries the main driving information, while the second controls the surf system, audio and lighting.
A stern thruster is available for low speed manoeuvring. Other equipment includes a Meridian audio system, an optional bimini and a powered tower.
