McConaghy GT86 – dawn of a new era

Written by

Nearly two years in the making, the McConaghy GT86 brings together superyacht inspired living, long-range capability and high-speed performance in a distinctive 25.54-metre power catamaran.

McConaghy Boats marks a significant milestone with the launch of the first GT86, a bespoke power catamaran that combines expansive living spaces, sophisticated onboard systems and the capability to travel further.

At 25.54 metres in length and with a 9.24-metre beam, the GT86 offers exceptional volume and comfort. Powered by twin Volvo IPS 1350 drives and carrying 15,000 litres of fuel, she is designed for extended passages, with a reported range exceeding 3,000 nautical miles and a top speed of approximately 28 knots.

Designed around the experience of being aboard

The GT86 places the experience of life on the water at the centre of its design. Expansive interior spaces, panoramic views and a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor living create an environment suited to both extended cruising and time spent at anchor.

The main-deck saloon opens onto an aft terrace, while a generous foredeck provides another space to relax and entertain. Twin staircases offer direct access to the water, further connecting the yacht with its surroundings.

Below deck, a substantial owner’s suite, multiple guest cabins and flexible accommodation options provide comfort and privacy for extended time aboard.

Performance with the range to explore

The GT86 combines the stability and volume of a power catamaran with the performance and range required for longer passages.

Twin Volvo IPS 1350 drives deliver a reported top speed of approximately 28 knots, while 15,000 litres of fuel capacity supports a range exceeding 3,000 nautical miles. This combination gives the GT86 the potential to cover substantial distances while maintaining the comfort and space expected of a yacht in this class.

Next-generation integrated vessel control

The GT86 features the next generation of integrated vessel control, allowing owners to access all systems via a common user interface, similar to what they are accustomed to with an iPad.

This new system will be rolled out across selected McConaghy builds as we move forward.

Built on decades of composite expertise

With more than 50 years of experience in advanced composite construction, McConaghy Boats brings a legacy of innovation and performance to the GT86. Its experience spans Grand Prix racing yachts, America’s Cup campaigns and sophisticated cruising vessels, supported by ongoing development in composite engineering and manufacturing.

The GT86 reflects this depth of expertise, combining McConaghy’s construction capabilities with a bespoke approach to luxury power catamaran design.

From launch to sea trials

Following launch, the GT86 moves into initial sea trials and onboard systems commissioning as preparations continue for shipment to its owner.
