Ocean Signal’s rescueME PLB3 Personal Locator Beacon, distributed in New Zealand by Lusty & Blundell Ltd, has been awarded the King’s Award for Enterprise 2026 in the Innovation category.

The award was presented at a royal reception hosted by King Charles III at St James’s Palace on July 8, attended by senior members of the Royal Family, including Princess Anne, President of the RYA.

A winner of the 2022 Metstrade DAME Design Awards, the rescueME PLB3 is the world’s first personal locator beacon to combine 406MHz and AIS (Automatic Identification System) technology. Designed for boaters, sailors and outdoor users, it features global satellite distress alerting, AIS Man Overboard alerts, Return Link Service confirmation and NFC smartphone connectivity.

Ocean Signal, based in Margate, UK, also manufactures the EPIRB3 emergency beacon, ATB1 Class B+ AIS Transponder and EDF2 electronic digital flare.
