Update 21 Nov: La Vagabonde’s Silence Leaves Patrons Adrift

Published

The adventures of Riley Whitelum and Elayna Carausu aboard La Vagabonde have inspired a dedicated following, with many, many supporting the family’s travels through the subscription platform Patreon. But in recent weeks, their absence has left fans and patrons questioning what’s happening behind the scenes.

Update

As at this moment, SLV have just updated the Patreon message as follows. We will find out tomorrow if this call happens or not?

Hey crew, we are both really sorry but we’re not going to be able to make today’s live stream. We will be shifting this chat with you all for November 21st EST. I’ll be tuning in with the kids and Riley will be tuning in from Australia.

Looking forward to talking with you all soon. Thank you all for your kindness and support.

No-Show For Patron Call

After weeks of scheduling and rescheduling, and at the list minute rescheduling again their live calls with patrons, Riley and Elayna failed to appear for the most recent meeting. Patrons logged in, waiting for updates from the beloved sailing vloggers, only to find themselves chatting among one another, with no sign of the family who had promised to connect.

The missed call has intensified concerns following the family’s recent accident off the coast of Japan. The La Vagabonde team has been uncharacteristically silent since the collision on 4 November, when their Rapido 60 trimaran was struck by a Japanese fishing boat in the middle of the night while the family slept aboard.

Speculation Swirls Around Legal Issues

In the absence of clear communication from Riley and Elayna, speculation has grown within the La Vagabonde community. Many wonder if the family is dealing with ongoing legal issues in Japan related to the accident. In a brief statement released on 5 November, the couple insisted they were not at fault in the collision. However, they have offered no further updates, leaving patrons in the dark.

The lack of communication has frustrated their financial backers. Patrons, who provide critical funding for the family’s sailing adventures, expressed a growing sense of unease during today’s missed call.

One patron commented, “Kinda feeling like there is a legal issue stopping this from happening? Have no idea how Japan is after an accident, but I’ve had an issue in Mexico that took months to straighten out.”

A Glimmer Of News?

Hints of an update emerged from an unexpected source. A post on the social media platform Sea People by Elayna teased a new video, set to be released tomorrow, that will reportedly review the incident. However, no similar communication has been made on La Vagabonde’s Patreon page, further alienating their core supporters.
After a user noted the Sea People post, we went looking – and here it is:

While Patreon has traditionally been the ‘Premium’ communication point for SLV, apparently now its SeaPeople…

A disappointed patron typed “Plleasee tell us something!” (intentional spelling). Another noted, “Anyone got direct contact with Elana and Riley to find out what is happening? A lot of people just left hanging here”.

Navigating Rough Seas

For years, Riley and Elayna have built a brand on transparency and connection, sharing their highs and lows with millions of viewers. But the current situation marks a departure from their usual openness, leaving many fans and supporters feeling adrift.

Patrons are now left waiting for tomorrow’s video, hoping it will shed light on the family’s current situation. Whether it will address the missed calls or offer an explanation for their silence remains uncertain.

In the meantime, La Vagabonde’s loyal supporters are grappling with a mix of disappointment and hope—wondering whether the sailing family will return to the connection and openness that first inspired their extraordinary journey.

We have reached out to team SLV but have also had no response. We will update this report as soon as we hear back from them.
